Aries - The Moon

Aries, in astrology, the Moon deals with matters of your emotions and is entangled with issues of the 4th House and the sign of Cancer. However, in tarot, whilst still dealing with feelings, this card is more so connected to Neptune and the 12th House and issues of the subconscious.

When you take into consideration both aspects, you understand that what you are truly navigating with this card, is the business of your unconscious emotions and how, when you fail to do the work of making them conscious and taking ownership and control of them, you put yourself in the position of being ruled by them.

Thus, this is a good time to utilise the New Moon in Capricorn to take personal authority over things which, up until now, you have been suppressing, either purposefully, or unconsciously.

Taurus - King of Swords

Taurus, the Swords suit deals with issues of the mind and with the King’s appearance here, it is symbolic of both your need and your capability to make the necessary decisions required of you in life, at this precise moment.

As ruler of the 2nd House, your sign governs matters of value - both personal and material. However, Capricorn - the sign this New Moon is occurring in - deals with authority - both your own and the exterior forms you encounter.

When you merge the understanding of all of these factors, you see that during this lunation, it is fundamentally important for you to gain mental clarity by identifying within yourself, what exactly gives your life meaning, what truly matters to you, what are you giving power to, and whether you may be letting others run roughshod over your needs and desires.

Gemini - Eight of Swords

Gemini, sometimes in life, you might find that you lose touch with perspective, finding that you cannot see the woods through the trees. During periods of turbulence, such as these, it’s only natural to feel somewhat out of control or lost in this ever-changing landscape.

Yet, the Eight of Swords here, speaks to the negative mental spaces you can end up finding yourself trapped in, the binds of which you fail to see are only as powerful as you make them.

It’s a part of the human experience to feel feelings and to experience moments of apathy and confusion, just as it is to feel elation and joy. But whilst you must come to terms with the relevancy and purpose of ALL thoughts and emotions, you must also recognise their cyclical and impermanent nature.

Cancer - Six of Cups

Cancer, when you experience disappointment or hurt, it can be easy to let your heart harden and feel that building a guard against others and life will protect you from repeating past pain. However, when you close off from sorrow, you also close off from joy.

It’s vital that you learn to recognise, that along the journey of life, it is inevitable that you will traverse rocky paths, of which, if you let them, will strengthen your resolve and teach you valuable lessons - not least about your own capability. Offering yourself the gift of gratitude for all that you have overcome thus far, will help to ease the suffering and allow you the opportunity to see the value, not only in the challenges themselves, but also in your ability and willingness to face them.

So, if you’ve been feeling disconnected, disillusioned, or stuck, acknowledge that it’s finally time to come back to yourself with this New Moon.

Leo - Page of Wands

Leo, aligned with the element of fire, the suit of Wands symbolises the flames of desire, dreams, and manifestation. Earthy Capricorn on the other hand, is representative of your determination and long-term goals.

Yet, when you bring these two forces together, you see that there’s never been a better time, than during this New Moon, to ask yourself what it is exactly that you truly want to spend your time and energy bringing into form? What is it, when you close your eyes, you see? What makes you come alive?

With the appearance of the Page, it appears you are finally ready to embark upon a journey of new creative pursuits which will speak to your soul, not your ego. But first, you must be sure you truly believe in both your vision and yourself.

Virgo - Justice

Virgo, in astrology, the Justice card is connected to air sign Libra. You may notice on the card, that Lady justice is holding onto a set of scales, which is a classic depiction of Libra, representing its eternal longing for harmony and equilibrium.

The issue with finding balance in any situation, is that it requires you to be willing to see both sides of the tale. Whilst you may not always be able to change what happened, or why, in regards to someone else’s behaviour, or choices, you are at least afforded the opportunity to examine the role which you yourself played.

It is essential to recognise that you are not a victim of circumstance when someone, or something has caused you pain. Whether it was your subconscious participation or the way in which you now choose to navigate what you have experienced, you will always have a responsibility to yourself, first and foremost.

Libra - Page of Swords

Libra, the Swords suit in tarot is connected to your higher consciousness and how you utilise your connection to it to take decisive action. With the appearance of the Page, it is indicative that you are ready to make changes in your life, however, it is imperative that they are motivated from a place within the heart and not the mind.

In Hinduism, the Lord Ganesh is depicted with, amongst other things, a small axe. It is symbolic of the need to cut away the ego and conquer pridefulness. So too must the swords in this suit be used with intention. For it is one thing to have intellect, but another to have the wisdom to know how best to use it.

At the New Moon, make a pact with yourself to check your intentions and motivations, to see if they’re aligned, before you make your moves out in the world.

Scorpio - Six of Swords

Scorpio, it’s easy for people to think that water signs are fluid by nature, but in truth, you more than most have a hard time truly moving on and letting go, especially when you’ve been hurt.

You are actually one of the most sensitive signs of the zodiac, but when wounded, unlike your fellow Cancerian, who will potentially be more prone to showing it, you have more of a propensity to quash it, hiding it in the cellar of your mind.

The issue is, that after a while the basement becomes overrun by musky boxes filled to the brim with the pain of the past. During this New Moon, it’s time to clean house. Pretending something doesn’t hurt, when it does, is cutting your nose off to spite your face. Utilise this Capricorn energy to get real with yourself, deal with your feelings and then truly move on.

Sagittarius - The Magician

Sagittarius, as ruler of the 9th House of exploration, higher learning, and philosophy, it is only natural that your sign has the capacity to garner a wealth of knowledge over the course of a lifetime. However, it’s not what you know, it’s what you do with it that counts.

When we look at the Magician, he has one hand pointed towards the sky and one towards the earth. He is indicating that as above, so below. Or in other words, what you have mastered out in the material world must now be transmogrified in the inner world and vice versa.

The Magician understands alchemy. On his table he holds the key elements of all the suits of the Tarot. Now, like him, you must take the wisdom of the sword, the emotionality of the cup, the passion of the wand, and the wealth of the pentacle, and transform them into a higher power, with which to infuse your actions with.

Capricorn - Knight of Cups

Capricorn, this New Moon is occurring in your sign, making it most likely more impactful for you than any other sign of the zodiac! And with the appearance of the Knight of Cups, this card is indicating that it’s matters of the heart that are most in need of mastery this lunation.

The suit of Cups is representative of all matters of the heart - not just romantic. They’re about your emotions, your sensitivities, your intuition, and your femininity - regardless of gender.

When you learn to understand and embrace the softer sides of yourself - a feat for an earthy, logical Cap - you harness the ability to offer compassion and empathy towards others, but also, most importantly, to yourself. For though it comes in many forms and guises, none is more powerful than self-love.

Pents08.jpg

Aquarius - The Eight of Pentacles

Aquarius, the suit of Pentacles deals in worldly matters, such as work, money, and material possessions. It is also directly connected to the earth signs, including Capricorn and thus, during this lunation, speaks directly to you about your connection to these issues.

The Eight of Pentacles here is depicting an apprentice, working with diligence to hone his craft. When we take this dedication to the cause and combine it with Capricorn’s determination to achieve long-term success, we cannot contemplate failure.

This is certainly a time to commit to what it is you wish to pursue. Yet, in order to do so, you must be prepared to be the master of your own destiny. To step into your own personal authority and do the work, because no one is going to do it for you.

RWS_Tarot_07_Chariot-1.jpg

Pisces - The Chariot

Pisces, your graceful fluidity in life has often afforded you the ability to be soft, where others have at times grown rigid. Yet, there may have been occasions where you deliberately directed yourself around an issue or a challenge, in order to circumnavigate it and instead, sought solace, or escapism, by way of something less taxing.

Yet, the appearance of the Chariot is asking that you muster a little more courage and authority and learn to tackle things head on. Yes, there is a difference between force and flow, but there is also a difference between facing something and avoiding it.

This isn’t a battle cry. You don’t need to armour up and change who you inherently are. But this is an opportunity to engage your intuition and tenderness in a new, more active manner, which will not only serve you better, but also those around you.
